SEO for Contractors: What Should You Fix First?

Contractor SEO is usually more useful when it starts with the pages closest to an estimate request—not with publishing dozens of generic articles.

1. Give each important service a useful page

If roofing, remodeling, landscaping, electrical work, or another service is commercially important, explain that service clearly enough for a prospective customer to evaluate it. Avoid thin pages created only to repeat keywords.

2. Be precise about where you actually work

State genuine service areas and keep business information accurate. Location pages should contain information useful to customers in that location rather than duplicated city-name swaps.

3. Answer estimate-stage questions

Useful pages can explain the estimate process, scheduling, project scope, preparation, typical decision factors, warranties or other questions relevant to the specific trade. Do not invent prices or promises that do not apply.

4. Show legitimate trust evidence

Use real licensing, certifications, project photography, policies, experience and customer feedback where available and permitted. Never manufacture reviews, projects, awards or credentials for SEO.

5. Make the next action obvious

A visitor who is ready to contact the business should not have to hunt for the next step. Keep calls to action descriptive and consistent with what actually happens after the click.

6. Measure before scaling

Use real search, lead and conversion evidence to decide what to improve next. More pages are not automatically better; stronger high-intent pages may be the better experiment.
