Small Business SEO Audit Checklist: What to Fix First

SEO work is easier when you prioritize evidence and customer usefulness instead of chasing a giant checklist.

1. Can search engines reach the pages that matter?

Confirm important public pages are accessible, linked from the site, and not accidentally blocked from indexing. Make sure each important page has a clear purpose and a stable URL.

2. Does each page answer a real customer need?

Write for the person making the search. A service page should clearly explain the service, who it is for, where relevant, and the next useful action.

3. Are titles and descriptions specific?

Use descriptive page titles and summaries that accurately reflect the visible page. Avoid stuffing variations of the same keyword.

4. What questions are customers asking?

Build useful supporting content around genuine buying questions, comparisons, problems and decisions. Link that content to the relevant service or product page when it naturally helps the reader.

5. What actually appears in search?

Review the pages competing for the searches you care about. Note the intent they satisfy, the depth of useful information, and gaps you can address honestly.

6. What should happen first?

Turn observations into a short prioritized action list. Fixing three important issues is usually more actionable than receiving a hundred unranked warnings.
